Most people who type for a living never formally learned to do it. They built their own system out of habit, and it works well enough that relearning feels like a step backwards. It usually is, for a week or two. After that, the new pattern is faster than the old one ever was.

Notes on this level

What this level is training

This level does not introduce a new key. It drills the right index, left pinky, right ring, left ring, left index, right thumb, right pinky, left middle, right middle fingers on keys you have already met, at a target of 36 words per minute and 94.1% accuracy.

Speed at this stage comes from removing hesitation rather than from moving faster. If your accuracy is above the target but your speed is not, the gap is almost always time spent deciding, not time spent pressing.

Most difficulty at this stage is technique rather than effort. These explain the technique.
