Cookies used to sign you in
If you create an account and sign in, Typometer sets session cookies so that you stay signed in between pages and visits. These are set by Supabase, which provides the authentication, and they hold a session token — not your password.
These are strictly necessary cookies: sign-in cannot work without them, so they are set when you sign in rather than asked about first. If you never create an account, they are never set.
Signing out clears them. You can also remove them through your browser settings, which simply signs you out.
What is stored without cookies
Two preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage — your theme choice, and whether the on-screen keyboard and finger guide are shown. Local storage is not a cookie: it is never sent to a server, so it is not readable by us or by anyone else. It exists only so the site looks the same next time you open it.
You can clear it at any time through your browser settings. The site will return to its defaults.
No advertising or analytics
There is no advertising on this site, no analytics, and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. Nothing sets a cookie except signing in.
If advertising is introduced, this page will say so, and it will say so automatically: it is generated from the site’s own configuration rather than written by hand, so it cannot describe a version of the site that is not running.
Why there is no consent banner
Consent banners exist because sites store or read information on your device for purposes that are not strictly necessary, most often tracking. The only cookies here are the ones that keep you signed in, which are strictly necessary and exempt. Adding a banner anyway would be theatre.
More detail
The privacy policy covers what is stored on our servers, what happens to your typing data, and how to have an account deleted.
