Privacy Policy
Short, because we collect almost nothing.
Last updated: 23 August 2026
The short version
Typometer does not have user accounts yet. We do not ask for your name, your email address, or any other personal information, and there is nowhere for you to enter it. We do not run analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking scripts. Nothing you type is sent to us.
What is stored on your device
Two small preferences are saved in your browser’s local storage so the site behaves consistently between visits:
- Theme — whether you chose light or dark.
- Lesson preferences — whether the on-screen keyboard, finger guide and focus mode are switched on.
These never leave your device and are not readable by us. Clearing your browser storage removes them, and the site continues to work with its defaults.
What happens while you type
Your keystrokes are processed entirely in your browser to calculate speed, accuracy and which keys you find difficult. That analysis is shown to you at the end of an exercise and then discarded. It is never transmitted, stored on a server, or retained after you close the page.
Server logs
The site is served by a hosting provider that, like all web hosts, records standard request information such as IP address, browser type and requested page. These logs exist for security and reliability, are handled by the host, and are not combined with anything else or used to build a profile of you.
Children
Typometer is intended for learners of school age and above. Because we collect no personal information and provide no accounts, messaging, uploads or advertising, there is currently nothing for a child to disclose. We do not, and will not, run behavioural advertising directed at children.
When accounts are introduced, this policy will be updated before that feature is available, and consent requirements for younger users will be handled explicitly.
Your rights
Data protection law gives you rights over personal information held about you, including access, correction and erasure. Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve or delete. The preferences described above are already entirely under your control in your own browser.
Changes to this policy
When the product changes in a way that affects your privacy — most obviously when accounts are added — this page will be updated first, and the date at the top will change.
