60-second typing challenge
Try an original passage about clear communication, then invite a friend to use the same text. No sign-up, advertising or public score submission.
One passage. The same rules for everyone.
The clock starts on your first character, not when you open this page. You have 60 seconds, or until you finish the passage. Mistakes advance the cursor; Backspace can repair the text but cannot erase a mistake from keystroke accuracy. Paste and drag-and-drop are blocked.
Invite someone to try the same text
The link contains no name, score or typing history. Sharing is optional.
How to compare attempts usefully
Use the same keyboard input method, layout and duration. A touchscreen attempt should not be compared with a physical-keyboard attempt. If one person ends early, keep that separate from a full 60-second attempt. Finishing the entire passage also ends the attempt; the result shows the actual time used.
Read accuracy beside speed. WPM uses correct characters in five-character units per minute; raw WPM counts character keystrokes, including errors. Backspace changes the finished text, while accuracy retains the history of mistakes. The scoring methodology explains the exact definitions.
The passage stays fixed for this version so a shared link does not silently give the next person easier text. Familiarity can improve a repeat result without proving a general typing improvement. Use a test with fresh text to check how that practice transfers.
Turn one attempt into useful practice
Notice one word or symbol where you paused. Work on that in targeted practice, then return when you want to compare another attempt under the same conditions. Teachers can pair this with the printable observation sheet; no class account or public student names are needed.
This challenge runs in your browser. It does not upload your keystrokes or results. Sharing sends only the public page link through an app you choose, or copies that link when you press the button.
