Typometer optional practice log / study template Revision: 16 October 2026 Source: https://www.typometer.app/typing-resources This is a blank template. It contains no observed participants or results. It does not send data to Typometer. Keep completed copies private and local. Use for a consented study only after an appropriate consent process; schools must follow their own approval and safeguarding process for minors. One row per recorded session. Do not overwrite missing scores with zero. Leave a field blank if it was not measured. Scores from different tools and conditions are not automatically comparable. Use Typometer's methodology page to understand this site's scoring, and record the tool/procedure in a separate study protocol. Record rules and any exclusions before analysis. recording_purpose: practice_log or consented_study. participant_code: random, locally assigned code; no names or email addresses. This is pseudonymous data, not necessarily anonymous data. session_number: positive integer; use this instead of publishing exact dates. condition_id: locally defined protocol code (e.g. prose_60_v1), consistently describing the tool, duration and text procedure in a separate codebook. duration_seconds: measured session duration, numeric, greater than zero. passage_category: words, sentences, punctuation, numbers, code, or another category specified in the local protocol. Do not paste a participant's text. keyboard_layout: the actual layout used; use unknown when not reported. device_category: laptop_keyboard, external_keyboard, or other. input_method: physical_keyboard or on_screen. Analyse separately. practice_minutes_since_previous: self-reported minutes, zero or greater; blank if unknown or the first session. Not a verified exposure measure. net_wpm: the tool's reported net WPM, zero or greater; blank if not measured. accuracy_percent: the tool's reported keystroke accuracy, between 0 and 100; blank if not measured. Backspace correction does not erase an error in Typometer's keystroke accuracy calculation. Before sharing any aggregate results, report sample size, recruitment, conditions, missing values, exclusions and limitations. Review disclosure risk; do not publish individual student rows or small identifiable groups. Do not infer a national average or a causal effect from a convenience sample. Do not include raw keystrokes, IP addresses, names, emails, exact ages, locations, diagnoses or sensitive free-text notes in this template. The original teaching handout and blank templates may be printed and shared for classroom and home teaching, retaining the source and revision.
